About Celtics Stuff Live

About Us

Celtics Stuff Live was created in January of 2006 by Justin Poulin and Jim Metz and made available as a pre-recorded podcast augmenting Justin’s Celtics17 Blog on the MVN.com network. Justin and Jim immediately set out to make the show a live webcast and accomplished this goal five months later for the 2006 NBA Draft with featured guests Scott Souza, Eric Weiss, Eric Pincus, and Jon Duke.

The next step was to develop a website and begin developing the Celtics Stuff Live brand. In August of 2006, www.celticsstufflive.com  was up and running with Jon Duke joining the staff. That fall, CSL expanded the list of regular guests to include esteemed members of the Celtics media such as Mike Gorman, Sean Grande, Steve Bulpett, and Gary Tanguay among others. These partnerships were integral to the rapidly growing success of Celtics Stuff Live.

That December, Justin Poulin and Eric Weiss from DraftExpress.com (in a partnership with CelticsBlog founder Jeff Clark) sat down with Celtics executives Jeff Twiss, Shawn Sullivan, and Brian Olive to discuss the approval of credentialed access to the Celtics locker room for the remainder of the 2006-2007 season. Eric Weiss and Justin Poulin covered the team in this role as contributors to CelticsBlog.com and this access has continued to this day for all Celtics Stuff Live contributors.

In June of 2007, CSL took their partnership with CelticsBlog one step further and merged the show with the website. That same month, CSL hosted it’s second annual Draft Night Show which evolved into a 6+ hour marathon with cameos from all the friends of Celtics Stuff Live including bloggers from around the league and interspersed with all the members of traditional media that had supported the show as guests during the year. Draft Night 2007 was a huge success for the show, to close out that evening Mike Gorman called on his way, making his second appearance of the night, and spoke with us for 45 minutes forecasting that good things were still to come. Just over 30 days later, Kevin Garnett was wearing Celtics green.

The 2007-2008 season saw CSL raise the bar for their Celtics coverage, attending over 90% of the team’s home games and producing post game podcaps or live post game shows for the entire regular and post season. In September, Marc Spears joined our stable of guests shortly after being hired by the Boston Globe and has been yet another fine addition to our shows. Throughout the 2008 season, Justin Poulin continued to establish himself as a regular presence on the beat and built upon relationships with Celtics players, coaches, and staff. In addition, Justin was followed for the second half of the season by Bombo Entertainment and was featured in the film “Return To The Rafters” which was released October 27, 2008. The Celtics 17th Championship Season was a special one and Celtics Stuff Live was there to cover it all with their strongest effort yet.

Prior to the start of the 2008-2009 season, Celtics Stuff Live and Comcast SportsNet entered into a collaborative relationship that not only brought CSL’s broadcasting and podcasting over to CSN, but also additional blogging and written content to help promote the construction of a new Celtics internet community. Jack Jemsek, Thomas Halzack, and Kevin Henkin joined Celtics Stuff Live to provide their own unique take on the team and supplement what is already a blue chip name in the professional basketball blogosphere.

With what appears to be another successful and exciting season to come, Celtics Stuff Live is poised to make even greater advances in increasing its listener base, becoming a greater presence on the web, and improving quality in every area.
